Our next stop is in Hartsel, once a rendezvous location for mountain men. We will stop at Wilkerson Pass to view the high plains and the Collegiate Peaks. Our first opportunity for a stop is at Elijah Murphy’s Historic Ute Inn in Woodland Park for those that wish to eat/drink, say Hi to Murph and use the facilities. Remember to drink plenty of water and dress accordingly as the temperatures change with the altitude and terrain. Additionally, we go from 6,100 feet above sea level to 10,000 feet, down to 5,300 feet and back to the hotel at 6,100 feet. While the route we chose is fairly short (174 miles) it will take about 4 to 5 hours to cover the distance with planned stops. Welcome to Colorado!
